Aegean goes to Russia

Jan 21, 2015

Greece’s Aegean Marine Petroleum Network has snapped up ex-OW Bunker staff to launch operations in Russia.

It will begin marketing its bunker services from a base in St Petersburg with immediate effect, the US-listed company said.

Aegean has taken on five “seasoned industry professionals” previously employed by defunct OW Bunker to sell fuel at all Russian ports.

The company said it expects to gain important local market intelligence.

Earlier this month, Aegean moved into the German sector after taking over two OW Bunker vessel charters.

And in December, the company acquired 28,567 tonnes of marine fuel and a storage contract with Vopak Terminal Los Angeles for $11m during an auction of OW assets in the US.
