Employees of the US Federal Aviation Administration conducted an audit on VSMPO-AVISMA in order to check the Russian company fulfilling US legislative requirements in the sphere of safety during the production and use of Boeing aviation technics. The auditors graded the work of VSMPO highly.It’s the third visit by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) representatives of the US Department of Transport to the Russian business.


The FAA checked the production of two details for the American Boeing company. It was a landing gear beam for the Boeing 737 and a wing chord for the Boeing 787-9. Federal agency auditors observed the stamping preparation process in department No. 21 and also studied documentation in the advancement of contractual agreement.

The auditors gave special attention to the production methods, blueprints, and their fulfillment. They had to show the document, which proves the completion of some or other actions. A VSMPO team and a Boeing company team worked along with the Federal Aviation Agency and a director through Tirus-US (California) Dario Oru participated in the audit.

“We helped Boeing prove that VSMPO is complying with all of the US legislature’s requirements in the sphere of safety during the production and use of aviation technics. The audit successfully passed for both the VSMPO and Boeing and the department 21 impressed FAA agents who were left pleased with our work,” commented the head of the VSMPO-AVISMA process and production certification department Ivan Shevchenko.

VSMPO-AVISMA is the largest producer of the titanium, cakes, and all kinds of half-stocks out of titanium alloys as well as pressed high-strength products out of aluminum, half-stocks out of alloy steels, and heat-resistant alloys on a nickel base in the world. About 19 thousand people work in the company. The controlling block of shares (50%+1) of VSMPO-AVISMA belongs to the company’s management, and a block of shares of 25% plus one share to the State Rostec Corporation.
